Learn Tricks For Decorating Wedding Cakes!
Decorating a wedding cake is a fun part of the planning process. It is an extension of the theme and decor of your reception as well as your personality and style.
For the bride on a tight budget, you can save big if you decorate a cake yourself. You can start from scratch and bake the cake, or order an affordable cake from a bakery that doesn't' necessarily specialize in wedding cakes. If you do make the cake yourself, you can layer rectangular or circular cakes, or make a small investment in a shaped cake pan, which you may be able to find in the kitchen section of a discount home store. Also make a small purchase of a cake decorating book or magazine, and check out article and videos on the Internet for both technique and inspiration. You decorations can be as simple as frosting or you can show off your new found talents and create precious little flowers. Consider a trial run and take a picture of it. If things get too hectic before the wedding, you can enlist some of your bridal party or close friends and family to put the finishing touches on your cake.
You may find that making a cake yourself, with the purchase of all the supplies, it would just be easier to have someone do it for you. If you want to leave it to the professionals, give them a vision. Bring them pictures of cakes that you like, size, shape, color, and decorations. Make an appointment to have a sit down meeting with them so that you are both clear on what it is you are looking for. Cake decorators and bakers are highly specialized and trained. A talented cake decorator is like hiring a master artist to paint your portrait.
