Disney World Dining - The Do's and Dont's When Booking
Most guests are excited when booking their dining reservations and some are stressed. There's a lot of planning to do and sometimes not enough time. I mean you may run into some difficulties when booking such as: you don't get the time and dates you want, the restaurants you are looking for are all booked up, or you're constantly being distracted by other members of your household. Well, here are some tips when booking your Disney dining reservations.
1) Make sure you book when it's convenient for you. It's hard enough trying to get the reservations you want for your family without ten different people talking to you at the same time. Get to a quiet, relaxing spot before attempting to book. This way you're completely focused on booking your reservations, without the added distractions.
2) Stay organized. Have a notebook and a writing utensil handy. During the booking process, there will be some advisories that you'll need to write down. You'll want to keep everything in a nice, neat organized notebook of some sort. You'll be taking down a lot of information, confirmation number, times and dates, so you want to make sure you can find it all when you come back to it.
3) Do your homework. Know what you want and what you are looking for prior to booking. If you are booking by telephone, you don't want to waste time on the phone asking the agent about every different restaurant. If you're booking online, you don't want to miss getting a certain restaurant at a specific time or date because you were still trying to decide what you want. Look up the restaurants you want to see if they'll be a good fit for you and your family beforehand.
4) Don't be rude to the booking agent if you can't get what you're looking for. It's not their fault if a restaurant, time or date has become unavailable, they are just the agent. Being rude to them is not going to get you what you want any quicker. Instead, thank them for checking for you. You can always check back at a later date to see if something has become available. Guests cancel all the time, so checking back frequently can definitely increase your chances.
5) Try not to book your entire trip around a certain dining location unless you have already booked it. Many guests book their trip to Disney World first, then book their dining locations last, with a certain dining location in mind that they really want. Character dining locations are a great example of this. Don't base your entire trip on dining with Cinderella for your kids and then try to book the restaurant at the last minute. Character dining locations tend to book up really fast, so your best bet would be to book those first. You can always cancel or change your reservation if something doesn't work out.
6) Don't expect to dine at a restaurant in a theme park if you don't have admission. Many guests think it's wrong that Disney doesn't allow its guests to dine in a theme park without having a ticket. I can somewhat understand that, but think of it this way. If you wanted to dine in a certain theme park and you were let in for free, what's to say that once you're done dining, you won't go and further explore the rest of the attractions in that theme park? It's like you're getting entrance into a theme park for free that others have to pay for. That's why you're not allowed to dine in another theme park unless you have a ticket. It might seem a bit selfish of Disney, but after all, they are a business and that is how they make their money.
Dining in Disney World can be a great experience for the whole entire family. Just by knowing these few points will help you out tremendously when booking your dining reservations.
