Many people enjoy the glow of a fireplace with the lights out, staring into the flame mesmerized is a favorite pastime and anyone can appreciate the warmth of a fire coming from a fireplace. The cracking sound of the wood burning is pleasant to hear. The nice fragrance of the wood permeating the room is very homey. For a lot of people this image reminds them of visiting their grandparents or winter days and nights at home during their childhood.
Today not as many people have fireplaces. They may miss the simple pleasures they enjoyed when their family stoked up the fire on the hearth. Though the flame is smaller and doesn't afford the pretty embers that a fire in the fireplace does, candles put a warm glow in a room and they are comforting. Their fragrance pleases the nostrils. Guess what? The wooden wick candle has been invented. When one first looks upon the wooden wick it is odd, but it brings benefits.
The wooden wick crackles and reminds one of a crackling wood in the fireplace fire. The sound of the wood coming apart evokes memories. Memories of the scent of the burning wood arouse a nostalgic feeling too and wood wicks have a similar less strong scent. These wicks make the good ole days roll happily through your mind. The wooden wicks are long lasting; they afford as much as one hundred hours of burning time. That's a lot of evenings to enjoy their comfort, warmth, the lovely memories they bring back.
For many people the fragrance of the wick is all they want from a wooden wick candle. It does the trick of fine-tuning their olfactory sense to flood forgotten memories of camp fire songs, roasting marshmallows, and telling scary stories into their welcoming consciousness. But some people would like to double their reminiscing with the help of added scent to their wooden wick candle.
Even in the summer or the slight cool of a fall evening that winter glowing, fragrant, popping fireplace scenario can be recreated by lightening a candle with a cedar wood, pine, ginger or cinnamon fragrance. The illusion of the crackling aromatic fire and the pungent aroma of baking gingerbread or spice cake -the baking smells wafting through the air as if coming from the oven-isn't it amazing what these candles can do?
While wooden wick candles are great for their aroma, long burning time, their ability to awaken memories, caution is advised when using them. They produce a higher flame than the candles that use regular wicks. Be careful where you place these candles so that anything that could catch on fire is away from them. They are always contained in jars and this helps prevent a fire hazard, but be careful and have fun burning them. A little caution goes a long way.
