Ribbon Rosy

Why is feeding comet goldfish to snakes bad anyway?
I have a ribbon snake (it is like a garter snake but smaller) and I have heard that you shouldn't feed comet goldfish and rosy red minnows to your snake, and that instead you should feed him/her guppies. Is this true and why?
-They are very high in fat.
-They can carry worms.
-They often contain a chemical called copper sulfate which some believe builds up in the liver or kidneys of reptiles and eventually becomes toxic after a period of time.
-They can lead to a thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency.
Most other types of fish, such as bait store minnows are much better options than goldfish. I have even heard of people cutting small strips off of fish fillets and dangling them in fron of the snake. If feeding an all fish diet, using vitamin supplements on the food is a good idea. I once had a ribbon and got it to eat pinky mice by rubbing fish slime on them. After a while, it learned to take the rodents, which are probably a better option nutritionally than fish.

The next time I read a weblog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as a lot as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to learn, however I truly thought youd have one thing attention-grabbing to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you would fix in case you werent too busy searching for attention.
