Wedding decorations don’t have cost you a fortune, especially if you are enjoy making crafts and you choose to make your own that will accent the reception tables, or maybe the wedding cake table to create an elegant touch to the event. There are several ideas to be creative when it comes to making your own decorations, but, first think about your theme or even the color scheme of the wedding or event you are having. It’s very easy to color coordinate your reception to accent the wedding décor or even the dress colors of the bride and bridesmaids. Using ribbon to accent into your ideas is not only inexpensive, but also dresses up the beautiful decoration.
An idea which is commonly used as table decorations and centerpieces are candles or candle favors. You can purchase small glass candles or you can find small glass candle holders and use tea lights to put inside. Typically you can find these glass jars at a craft store very reasonably priced, or even on clearance. You can make your own candle centerpiece for reception decorations using the glass jars and tealights, then use small rhinestones and attach them on the glass jars. You can be creative with the rhinestones creating the bride and groom’s initials or even spell out different words or shapes on each one like "Love", or "Fall in Love", their wedding date or shapes like hearts or entwined circles to represent wedding rings. Those are just a few suggestions on decorating ideas using crystal rhinestones on candles. Another idea is using ribbon, select colored ribbon to match your wedding décor, or, use themed ribbon that may have Bride and Groom or Wedding stamped as other ideas. You can use hot glue and attach the ribbon on top, bottom or both for a decorative touch. If you are using 2 colors for your wedding, then maybe use 1 color on top and the other color on the bottom to match your wedding colors. The candle can also be used as favors for your guests as keepsakes from your wedding event.
Another creative decorating idea for the wedding reception tables or even the cake table is using satin, lace or tulle material to make runners. Table runners will always dress up reception and give a very elegant appearance of the reception tables. Using a colored satin matching the color of the wedding, cut the material for your desired runner width; remember to cut enough to allow you for a hem for both width and length. Runner widths can vary from 10”- 12” but vary with the width of the table and your personal taste. The length can vary as well; the runner can be made the same length as the table or the same length of the table covering. Again, you can be very creative using rhinestones or even Swarovski crystals for a variety of designs, the Bride and Groom’s name or initials. If you’re having a fall wedding, another idea is gluing autumn colored leaves adding to the fall wedding look, or for winter themed weddings, either buy or make snow flakes to accent the runners as well.
Another idea that is different for the tables are either making or purchasing shapes from wood. One idea is using heart shapes, painted, then personalize them each differently with romantic sayings or gestures and place one in the center of each of the reception tables. Sayings like “Love is Sweet”, “Love is Blooming”, Love is in the air”, “Meant to Be” “Fall in Love" or the bride and groom's name are just a few examples.
